In 1936, the “Penya Germanor” was founded thanks to the Pérez-Vivó family, at the hands of the Evarist, who only wanted to gather and distract the children and youth of the neighborhood in order to compensate for the bad trances that the war was causing. happen in those years. These were meetings in which film screenings and theater performances were held in a family and festive atmosphere.
In 1941 the war ended, and despite the difficulties of the time, he did not give up dance meetings, party meals and recreational meetings at the house of Can Borda, where he gradually originate what is now our MAJOR PARTY. During these festivities, sardanas, ping pong championships, music, carnival, candy singing for Easter, Christmas carols, background races, masses and awards for elegance in the gala dance were performed. The place of these meetings already had to be in the street (“Plaza Mayor”).
In 1942 there was even a sports section with its own "handball" team in the first division.
In 1947 the Festa Major stopped being celebrated, they say that the reason was a generational change, and the exhaustion of the organizers, but very quickly that the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the neighborhood to make brotherhood, that it will be celebrated again as we know it now!.
The year 1976 marked the full recovery of the Festa Major and a tribute was paid to the most veteran neighbor Raimon Brau, who was given a commemorative plaque. The "Youth Section" was also created to take care of organizing all the upcoming parties. In those years, the major festivities became more and more important, organized by young people and with a program of events: sardana dances, a party for children, and the long-awaited "Brotherhood Dinner".
In 1984, due to the death of Lluís Garcia, one of the patriarchs of the neighborhood and promoter, enthusiast and animator of everything that was celebrated, the Festa Major was not celebrated.
In 1987, theater was performed again at the Festa Major with a group of locals who later founded the "Fontmontina Comedy Company ".
It must be said that the play is the star activity, as the actresses and actors are the same neighbors of the Font del Mont, and every year they excel! Other common activities of the Festa Major are: the sports morning, the children's party, the dinner, the dance, the "wake up" (with thunder, drums and firecrackers that culminates with a breakfast), the lunch of brotherhood, and the end of party.
