WHO IS THE fontmontina

The origin of the theater in the Font del Mont district, located at the foot of Tibidabo (Barcelona), dates back to 1987, when a group of residents proposed a performance for the Major Party. theatrical. Since then, almost uninterruptedly, all the Festivals have had the participation of this unique Amateur Company.

It was not until 1994 that the name of the Company was finally adopted, maintaining the same spirit. Its objectives include the revitalization of residents and the enrichment of neighborhood festivities by making them participatory and creative.

The Company has also included in its repertoire the children’s theater, made by the children and young people of the neighborhood themselves, with the participation of which the performance of the Pastorets began in 1996.

Initially, the Company's work was carried out during the months of March to September in order to stage the project at the neighborhood's Major Party. For seventeen years, the Fontmontina Company has been collaborating with the residents of Vallvidrera and with the Els Pirates Teatre Company in the staging of Els Pastorets at the Vázquez Montalbán Civic Center in Vallvidrera.

Due to the characteristics of the Company, it is fed mainly by the residents, and also by friends, from the Font del Mont neighborhood, and for some years now by residents from other neighborhoods of Collserola. In its shows it adapts to the geographic particularitity of the district, since the spectacles in the summer are represented outdoors, except in four occasions in which they were carried out in the theater of the premises of the Parish of San Joan de la Creu del Peu of the Vallvidrera Funicular, and when the format allows, in the civic center of Vallvidrera. Since 2010, the company has performed outside the mountain neighborhoods, especially in Sarrià, but also in other towns in the counties of Barcelona (Sant Cugat, Teià, Els Hostalets, l'Ordal, Olivella .. .)

More than 80 actors and actresses have passed through the Company, residents of the Font del Mont, that is, a very high percentage of the inhabitants of the neighborhood, and many, many have participated in the shows more than once. The Company decides, year after year, by consensus, which show to perform. Its repertoire has been very varied, going through comedies, vaudeville, musicals, a "zarzuela", texts cultured in the key of satire and the Company's own productions, in which text, humor, choreography, etc. are mixed. . New show formats have also been introduced, such as video projection.
